A Career Defined by Academic and Clinical Excellence
Dr. Makam's medical journey began with outstanding academic achievements, including winning the Gold Medal during his MD in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, as well as Distinctions in various subjects while pursuing his under graduation at Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College.
To refine his expertise, Dr. Makam spent over a decade training and practicing in the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK. He completed his Specialist Registrar training across leading Welsh hospitals and achieved the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT, UK) in 2010. Furthermore, he completed an Advanced Training Skill Module (ATSM) in Fetal Medicine at the prestigious University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, alongside specialized training in obstetric leadership. Recognizing his contributions and standing in the field, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG) in 2017.
Leadership and Pioneering Practice
Upon returning to India, Dr. Makam served as Director and Consultant of Fetal Medicine across leading healthcare networks, including Sparsh Super-specialty Hospital, People Tree Hospitals, and Cloud-nine Hospitals. Driven by a vision to create a dedicated unit for advanced prenatal diagnostics and Fetal interventions, he founded Adi Advanced Centre for Fetal Care, where he serves as Managing Director and Program Director for the Fellowship in Fetal Medicine.
Dr. Adi Makam specializes in high-risk pregnancy and fetal medicine, offering advanced anomaly scans, 3D/4D ultrasound, fetal echocardiography, neurosonography, genetic screening, and high-risk Doppler studies. His expertise includes intrauterine fetal interventions, such as amniocentesis, CVS, cord blood sampling, intrauterine transfusion, fetal therapy, and advanced management of complicated twin pregnancies, including laser photocoagulation for TTTS and microwave ablation.
Academic Legacy & Patient-Centered Care
An experienced national and international speaker, Dr. Makam conducts specialized workshops and conferences in fetal medicine. He served as President of SFM Karnataka (2022–2026) and continues to train future fetal medicine specialists as a Fellowship Director. He combines advanced medical expertise with compassionate, personalized care, providing families with clear guidance and comprehensive support.

We follow internationally recognized protocols because we believe your report should mean something wherever in the world you take it next. Our in-house genetic counsellor works with every family that needs one. When a diagnosis points to a condition requiring post-natal care, we facilitate that referral personally.
We also run fellowship programmes for medical professionals — which means the doctors training here are held to the same standard as the doctors treating here. That accountability shapes everything.

ADI functions not only as a specialist fetal medicine centre, but also as a dedicated clinical learning environment for doctors pursuing advanced prenatal imaging and fetal diagnostics.
Over the years, radiologists, obstetricians and gynecologists, and fetal medicine practitioners from across India have trained at ADI through structured fellowship and hands-on ultrasound programs designed around real clinical practice.
