About The ADI Fellowship Program
Most doctors describe the ADI fellowship as a turning point. Not because of a curriculum alone — but because of what it actually feels like to have a teacher who treats no question as too basic and no case as too ordinary to explain in full.
At ADI’s Advanced Centre For Fetal Care, we offer fetal medicine fellowship programs to empower our Obstetrics-Gyneocology and Radiology colleagues to perform fetal imaging with great confidence. It is a hands-on training program both in fetal scanning as well as in fetal interventional procedures. The training modules are based on the guidelines of the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) and International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG). Such trained professionals could do fetal scanning with great competency and would be able to counsel and manage various fetal abnormalities.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TRAINING:
Systematic case-based approach right from the beginning—starting with embryology till management and counselling for every case
Multiple repeated discussion sessions of the frequently seen cases

Up to date information on the recent advances and guide lines
During the training, the trainees perform scans and are supposed to save the images for expert opinions. The training gives access to both fetal imaging and strengthening soft skills. The trainees get hands on experience and learn to introduce to patients, making patient(s) comfortable, take history and after scan counseling and management.

TRAINING STANDARDS & REQUIREMENTS
A log book to be maintained on a daily basis needs to be evaluated on a weekly basis by Dr. Adi or his colleagues. Details of all cases seen along with learning points from each case to be noted.
It is expected for all trainees to be groomed well and come neatly dressed along with compulsory use of a neat, well ironed apron.
There are 4 rooms with ultrasound machines and each room will have 4 trainees.
Each trainee gets 30 minutes for each scan following which Dr. Adinarayana Makam will review images and confirm scan findings.
Case will be followed by detailed counselling for the patient and relatives in his room which the trainee can attend to learn the art of counselling and noting the same on counselling sheet.
Each trainee is expected to learn the art of reporting along with the use of software and fast typing.
At end of each day, every trainee is expected to discuss two points learnt through the day along with fellow trainees.
Each trainee needs to submit a paper on the topic given by the end of training; failing which the trainee will not be awarded with the certificate of completion.
80% attendance is mandatory for both hands-on training and theory classes.
Theory classes are conducted every Friday evening from 04.00 pm–9.00 pm.
One internal exam will be conducted one month prior to the end of training.
A certificate of competency is given after an exit exam at the end of 6 months or 1 year.
